Episode #4: Warning! Graphic Content

Happy 4 Week Anniversary!

We’ve made it to week 4 of the 3620 podcast. And we’re delighted to be showcasing a new producer this week: Holli Seitz. It seems like we’ve taken a little detour into ruminations about the scholarly life in the past few weeks (and there’s more to come on that!), but this week, we’re serving up some communication theory on the ‘cast.

By exploring the use of emotionally evocative public service announcements to promote smoking cessation, this piece offers a peek into the fields of health communication and message effects.  We discuss the target audiences for these ads, ad effectiveness and evaluation, and how the emotionally evocative PSAs fare in multi-country comparisons.
