Episode# 56: Haiti’s Trouble with Relief

This week on the podcast, producer Kate Zambon talks to the scholar Mimi Sheller about how people and institutions responded to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and how assumptions about Haiti as a so-called “third-world country” influenced the relief that Haitians had access to.   The Haitian case sheds light on questions of post-colonial citizenship, distant suffering, and media politics.
